In 2009, we phased in Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certified paperboard for our U.S. pint containers. FSC certification means that the pulp in the paperboard comes from forests that are managed for the protection of wildlife habitat, maintenance of biodiversity, and other forest-sustainability criteria.

The transition to FSC-certified paperboard has also helped us reduce 1,000 tons of waste per year compared to our old container.

We're confident that we can continue to improve our primary packaging materials, such as pints and 500 ml tubs, in the years ahead. Our long-term goals include using unbleached paperboard and finding food-safe renewable resins that can make our packaging fully compostable. (woohoo!)
