For Release at Close of Market: 5:15 PM EDT, May 4, 1995 BEN & JERRY'S HOMEMADE, INC. ANNOUNCES 1995 FIRST QUARTER RESULTS WATERBURY, VT. - Robert Holland, Chief Executive Officer of Ben & Jerry's Homemade, Inc. (NASDAQ: BJICA), the Vermont-based superpremium ice cream manufacturer, announced 1995 first quarter results today.

Net sales in the first three months of 1995 were $34,205,000, an increase of 6% compared to $32,191,000, for the same period in 1994. Net income for the period increased to $911,000, or 1%, compared to $902,000 in the first quarter of 1994. Earnings per share in the first quarter of 1995 were $0.13, the same as in the first quarter of 1994.

In making this announcement, Holland stated, "Our revenues and earnings are headed in the right direction. The revenue increase reflects a modest increase in volume over the same period last year, plus the impact of a price increase that took effect during the last month of the quarter. Net income was positively impacted by improvements in manufacturing efficiencies, production planning, and inventory management. Some of the impact of these positive trends was offset by an increase in SG&A costs associated with strengthening our organizational infrastructure over the past year. We expect these trends to continue."

Holland also invited shareholders and friends to join the Company at the Ben & Jerry's Annual Meeting and One World One Heart Festival on June 24 at Sugarbush Resort in Warren, VT. The shareholders' meeting itself will begin at 10:00 AM on that day.

Ben & Jerry's produces superpremium ice cream, ice cream novelties, and lowfat and non-fat frozen yogurt using Vermont dairy products and high quality natural ingredients. Ben & Jerry's products are distributed nationwide in supermarkets, grocery stores, convenience stores, restaurants, and other venues. The Company franchises Ben & Jerry's scoop shops, including four in Canada. The Company is also a joint partner in a production and scoop shop venture in Karelia, Russia; has a licensing agreement with an ice cream manufacturing and marketing company in Israel; and sells its products in the United Kingdom.
