Jochanan Senf gets to live every child’s dream. He is the CEO of an ice cream company. And not just any ice cream company, but one that has dedicated itself to defending justice and using the power of business to fight for equity and equality. Jochanan is the CEO of Ben & Jerry’s. Jochanan always wanted to be a leader. From his early days exemplified by his interest in progressive politics and his various roles as a Student Leader in University. His tenure with Unilever, steeped in executive experience began in 2003. He led Ben & Jerry’s as Managing Director Europe for seven years from 2009 to 2017, gained other executive leadership experience including multiple roles such as Vice President of Ice-cream in Indonesia as well as General Manager Foods throughout Europe. Senf assumed the CEO job at Ben & Jerry’s in July of 2025.
Jochanan deeply believes in Ben & Jerry’s Mission, vision and values. “It’s what sets us apart - aside from making the world’s best ice cream,” the native Dutchman proudly stated.
Jochanan leads Ben & Jerry’s at a time of tremendous growth and change, while working with the team to continue the immense legacy of Ben & Jerry’s as it nears 50 years of values-led business as a leader and pioneer of corporate responsibility. The Vermont-based business is slated to transition from Unilever - its parent for the past 25 years to the The Magnum Ice Cream Company by the end of 2025 - beginning of 2026.
Jochanan shares his time between his European home with his wife and 3 children and his home close to the Ben & Jerry’s headquarters in Burlington, Vermont.
Michiel is founder of a boutique board-room consultancy, which support executive teams in navigating transformational change. He brings deep expertise in top team development, business transformations and leadership development. His current client-roster includes leading clients in the energy, pension, health insurance and steel sector, all involved in industry changing transitions.
He has been the CEO of IMAGINE, an advisory firm co-founded by Paul Polman, focused on developing businesses as a source for good. (doing well by doing good. They developed an approach to include multi-stakeholder value creation in strategy-, business model- and culture development.
Michiel had a fifteen-year career at McKinsey&Co in Toronto, NYC and Amsterdam, where he was a partner focusing on large scale transformations, culture change, organizational design and leadership development. He led the global Top Team Effectiveness work for many years.
He co-founded and led Aberkyn, a change facilitation firm supporting leaders to create business as a source for good. He helped grow Aberkyn from a local start up to a global presence with offices in Europe, India, Dubai, China, and the Americas. Aberkyn is now owned by McKinsey.
Before joining McKinsey & Co, Michiel had a 15-year career at Unilever with marketing, sales and general management roles in The Netherlands, Italy and the United States. He’s an ice-cream guy with over a decade of ice-cream marketing, product development and sales experience. He has been the global brand director of Magnum in the brands early days in the 90’s.
Michiel is the author of the book Deliberate Calm, learning and leading in volatile times, published by Harper Business. Michiel is married to Christine, together they have three children and they are getting used to an empty nest. They live in nature, just outside Amsterdam.
