When music lovers head to the Walnut Creek Amphitheatre in Raleigh, North Carolina, on September 13, 2014, they’ll be joining a tradition that’s been going strong for 29 years. It’s fun, it’s fantastic, it’s Farm Aid, and it’s helping protect our nation’s family farms.
The festival started in 1985. It was held in Champaign, Illinois, and nearly 80,000 attendees showed up to take part in the magic. Each subsequent year has brought something new and exciting, but the mission has always remained the same – Support family farmers. Grow good food. Make a better America.
Willie Nelson, a good friend of Ben & Jerry’s and a founding member of Farm Aid, will be headlining this year with fellow founders Neil Young and John Mellencamp. They’ll be joined by Dave Matthews, Jack White, Gary Clark, Jr., Delta Rae, and more.
To get you excited for all the awesome, we’ve found some clips from this year’s acts that are sure to put you in a musical mood:
Although Farm Aid uses music to help spread its message, the festival is really about good food and the family farmers who make it possible for us to eat and live in a more healthy way. They will be there, too, serving us delicious delights and helping us learn about the role they play in our every day lives.
If you’re in the area, or if you’ve been hankering for an excuse to take a road trip, we think you should hit up Farm Aid 2014. Tell them Ben & Jerry’s sent you!
