Help Support GMO Labeling
As the summer heat sets in we’re on the road again visiting festivals across the country, serving up free scoops of Ben & Jerry’s and talking to folks about GMO labeling. Genetically Modified Organisms (GMOs)can be found in 70-80% of processed foods, but currently aren’t required to be labeled on food packaging in grocery stores. We think people have the right to know if there are GMOs in their food, so we’re setting out this summer to get people to take action on the issue. Not familiar with GMOs? We believe there is a passionate activist inside everyone. By getting educated on this issue, and taking the opportunity to speak up and have their voices heard, people are joining an important national grassroots movement. To help with this, we’re setting up a photo booth at all the festivals we attend to help share one key message: that we all have the right to know what’s in our food!
We’re collecting the photos to share with congress, urging them to stand with the 93% of Americans who are already in support of mandatory GMO labeling at a national level. We’re also snapping the photos with people’s cell phones asking our fans to share the photos using the hashtag #GMOrighttoknow to help build awareness amongst their friends and family around the importance of GMO labeling. We hope this will help familiarize more people with the issue, and help grow the movement until GMOs are labeled across the country.
