15 Pies We’ve Turned Into Ice Cream

December 19, 2014

No matter what your family eats as the main course this holiday season, there’s a good chance dessert will include some sort of pie. What’s a holiday meal without some pie?

Everyone knows how well ice cream pairs with pie. We love the stuff so much that we can’t seem to help ourselves when it comes to creating pie-flavored ice creams. How many of these 15 flavor creations have you eaten?

1. That’s Life Apple Pie (Scoop Shops 1987)

This flavor tasted its best when the eater was wearing neon. The 80s were weird like that.

2. Miz Jelena's Sweet Potato Pie (1992-1993)

Made with ginger ice cream and a fudge swirl, this short-lived flavor lives on in our Flavor Graveyard.

3. Sweet Potato Pie (Scoop Shops 1993-1996)

We were pretty sad to lay Miz Jelena’s Sweet Potato Pie to rest in 1993, so we thought we’d change up the recipe and put Sweet Potato Pie another chance at infamy in our Scoop Shops.

4. Pecan Pie (1994-1995)

Legend says Pecan Pie didn’t show up in recipe books until 1886. We apologize that it took us over 100 years to make our own variation.

5. Southern Pecan Pie™ (1998-2001)

After Pecan Pie came and went, we decided to try a new twist. So we sent the flavor down south with brown sugar ice cream, pecan chunks and swirls.

6. Sublime Key Lime Pie (2006)

Key lime pie is good. But Sublime Key Lime Pie? We guess its fluffy meringue swirls were just too sublime for the world to handle.

7. Lemon Meringue (Scoop Shops 2006)

Can you imagine a flavor being so good that the President declared it the official food of the Olympic Curling team? We’re not saying that happened, we’re just asking the question.

8. Apple Pie (2009)

Imagine putting a scoop of our Apple Pie on top of that slice of Apple Pie you just took out of the oven. This is the stuff dreams are made of.

9. Key Lime Pie (2009-2012)

Our second attempt to get it right went a little bit better than the first. Just ask your buddy Steve. He loved it!

10. Mud Pie (2010-2012)

Someone once bet we couldn’t make a flavor with Irish Coffee Liqueur Ice Cream. They lost.

11. Boston Cream Pie (2010-Present)

It was one of our favorite donuts when we were kids, and now it’s one of our favorite ice cream flavors. Life is full circle, people!

12. Pumpkin Pie (Scoop Shops 2011)

The best part? You could eat it without worrying if Great Aunt Ruth remembered to take the seeds out when she made the pie filling.

13. Candy Bar Pie (Limited Batch 2013-2014)

We don’t know how much longer this limited batch will be around. We do know there’s no sweet tooth it doesn’t satisfy.

14. Mississippi Mud Pie (2013-Present)

Here’s a riddle. What has 5 I’s and can’t see? Hmm. This riddle is better when said aloud, because you don’t know that it’s “I’s” and not “Eyes.” Oh well. The answer is Mississippi Mud Pie.

15. Coconut Cream Pie

Whenever a comedian has gotten a pie in the face, it’s typically been a cream pie. Call us coconuts, but a spoon was the only way we recommended taking this pie to the face.
