There’s so much to love about The Tonight Dough! Last night, Jimmy launched the newest additions to the Tonight Dough family: The Tonight Dough Non-Dairy and The Tonight Dough Chunks. (That’s one sweet family reunion!)
And there’s something extra special about The Tonight Dough: All of Jimmy’s proceeds from The Tonight Dough, The Tonight Dough Non-Dairy, The Tonight Dough Chunks, and The Tonight Dough Pint Slices benefit SeriousFun Children’s Network, a global organization that gives kids with serious illnesses the opportunity to have a life-changing camp experience filled with their own seriously fun brand of euphoria. S’mores, swimming, boating, arts and crafts, and catching fireflies — all inclusive and adapted to meet the needs of these very special campers — are just some of the magic being made by the good folks at SeriousFun, and all free of charge for the children's families. SeriousFun camps continue to provide fun, transformative, and supportive experiences to their campers and families virtually while preparing to welcome campers back to camp safely when it’s possible to do so.
To date, these dough-licious flavors have raised $3.7 million for SeriousFun. Now that’s sweet!
Life-Changing In Every Way
Founded by the late actor and philanthropist Paul Newman, SeriousFun has delivered more than 1.3 million transformative experiences to kids and their family members from more than 50 countries. Knowing the incredible power that the camps have for helping kids, Paul remarked, “It’s not that the children say, ‘Thanks for a wonderful time.’ It’s that they say, ‘Thank you for changing my life.’” With 30 camps and programs worldwide, it’s an organization we are proud to support, and a shining example of how ice cream euphoria can have a serious ripple effect.
Everything about SeriousFun is united around the simple belief that all kids deserve to experience the joys of childhood, regardless of their medical condition. On the surface, it might look like it’s all fun and games, but the real impact of the SeriousFun experience is the sense of independence, resilience, and self-esteem it instills in campers. It’s about building friendships, fulfilling dreams, and helping kids gain the confidence to reach beyond their illness to know that anything is possible.
All of SeriousFun’s programs and facilities are specially adapted to meet the needs of all their campers – medical, physical, emotional, social, and cultural. State-of-the-art onsite medical expertise supports more than 50 different medical conditions, including cancer, HIV, blood disorders, heart diseases, and neurological conditions. The wide array of adaptive programs isn’t limited to traditional summer camp activities either, but includes family and sibling weekends, winter sports programs and outreach in hospitals, to name a few.
And the need for innovative and adaptable programming has never been as great as it is now. In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, SeriousFun camps and programs around the world launched remote and virtual programs to deliver the SeriousFun experience safely into camper’s homes. While the pandemic forced the suspension of in-person programming, the organization remained focused on strengthening relationships, providing meaningful connectivity, and encouraging optimism amongst children and families who were increasingly isolated from social activities, family and friends, and other support networks.
