And their latest innovation has us lining up for seconds: a new recipe for our Non-Dairy flavors, now made with oat milk! Oat milk creates a rich and creamy base that lets all our chunks and swirls shine with smooth, delicious indulgence. We can’t wait to share it with you!
Ever since we first introduced Non-Dairy flavors back in 2016, fans have loved being able to enjoy all their favorite Ben & Jerry’s chunks and swirls without the dairy. In fact — brag alert! — it’s the #1 non-dairy packaged frozen dessert in the US. Now we’re excited to transition all our nearly 20 Non-Dairy flavors, including Scoop Shop flavors, to the new oat milk base. First up: Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough! Look for Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Non-Dairy with the new oat milk recipe in freezers soon, and other flavors in the coming months. And at the beginning of 2024, look for a brand new never-before-scooped Non-Dairy flavor featuring the new oat milk recipe.
Until now, the Flavor Gurus have churned up our Non-Dairy flavors using either almond milk or sunflower butter. Current favorites like Lights! Caramel! Action! and Cherry Garcia use almond milk, which works well with their particular chunks and swirls. And flavors like Oatmeal Dream Pie and Mint Chocolate Cookie use sunflower butter for the same reason. But we love tinkering in the test kitchen and trying to pack even more “Wow” into every bite. So instead of putting our spoons away for good, we kept looking for a Non-Dairy recipe that would deliver an even smoother, creamier, and richer dessert experience.
After years of testing and tasting and churning and learning, the Flavor Gurus discovered our best Non-Dairy recipe yet: a rich and creamy oat milk base. With oat milk, they realized that they could use one recipe to make a creamy base perfect for all our flavors. The oat milk recipe makes for a creamier, more indulgent texture, allowing flavors like chocolate, caramel, mint, and vanilla to shine. And there’s an added bonus, too: Oat milk reduces nut allergens, making every Non-Dairy flavor more inclusive for those with dietary sensitivities.
